Women’s March 2017, Washington, D.C.

January 23, 2017 | 0 Comments

Regardless of your politics, you can’t deny the power of the worldwide marches held on January 21, 2017. Estimated attendance figures are over 2.9 million people, the largest in U.S. history, and I was lucky enough to have been able to join them. More incredible than the turnout was the mood of the march – one of positivity, unity, and peace. That’s democracy and free speech in action. These photos […]
Maxine + Mycal’s Maternity/Paternity Shoot – Arlington, Virginia

November 23, 2015 | 0 Comments

Okay, I hope I’m not alone in thinking that expecting dads joining their ladies in joint maternity/paternity shoots is awesome. It’s great seeing how invested these future fathers are, how excited everybody is, and how close these couples are. I’m all about gender equality and mixing up gender roles and this is a definite sign that things are trending towards cool things. I’ve known Maxine and Mycal for a long […]

Anne + Patrick’s Maternity/Paternity Shoot – Arlington, Virginia

August 18, 2015 | 0 Comments

Anne and Patrick contacted me a few months ago regarding a photoshoot for their first pregnancy, which we did last week in Anne’s ninth month! I’ve known them both for ages – Anne and I worked together at a pediatric hematology/oncology clinic and they’re great people. The shoot was sort of last minute, but we pulled it off. Baby Maggie was due on Friday, we shot at Bon Air Park in […]
Love Wins!

June 26, 2015 | 0 Comments

Today is a great day in American history. Today , June 26th, 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that “The Fourteenth Amendment requires a State to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-State.” Today, LGBTQ citizens and their allies (which yes, includes […]

A Happy Thanksgiving Message and Announcement

November 27, 2014 | 0 Comments

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! 2014 has been a tumultuous, exciting, and eye-opening year. Taking the plunge and going full-time with my passion for photography was a goal that I had once considered wishful thinking, it’s an amazing feeling to see where I am now. I am so happy and grateful to have had the support and good fortune over the past few years to have made my humble dream a reality. In my life […]
Against Me! at the 9:30 Club

September 12, 2014 | 0 Comments

Against Me! is awesome and their latest album Transgender Dysphoria Blues (Amazon Link), is just as great. This is their first album since Laura Jane Grace’s public coming out as transgender and you can hear a myriad of conflicting emotions as the album plays. I saw Against Me! this past May at Rams Head Live and it was probably the best show I have ever been to. The energy of the band and the […]
2014 Growing Hope Picnic

May 16, 2014 | 0 Comments

Growing Hope is a local 501(c)(3) charity that “provides supportive, non-medical care to children with cancer and their families.” I have personally seen this organization in action and they are great people who really care. Every year they throw a picnic at Nottoway Park in Vienna, Virginia for pediatric cancer patients, their families, and the staff that takes care of them to enjoy time together outside of the clinical setting. These […]
